Scholarship Program for the APDT/CAPDT Annual Conference & Trade Show in Covington, KY – October 18-20

Policies
Purpose
To allow APDT member trainers, behaviorists, veterinarians/staff, shelter employees/volunteers, etc. to attend the APDT/CAPDT annual conference who may not otherwise have the funds available to do so.
Eligibility
Members of the APDT Board of Directors and the APDT Foundation Board of Trustees are not eligible. Working at a facility or organization as a rescue/shelter employee or in a trainer role as a staff member and/or volunteer using positive reinforcement training techniques is required.

for their generous support of this scholarship program.
Scholarship Winner
The scholarship winner will receive:
FREE general conference registration to the 2023 APDT/CAPDT annual conference,
Publication of their biography on the APDT Foundation website, in Chronicle of The Dog and on social media platforms, plus
$500 in award money & recognition onstage during the opening welcome at the 2023 APDT/CAPDT conference.
Procedures
Application
Applicants will submit a completed application by May 22
nd
, 2023. Applications are to be submitted to info@apdtfoundtion.org.
Selection
The APDT Foundation Grants, Posters & Scholarship Committee will use the scholarship application to select the winning applicant(s). Applications will be scored based on the following criteria:
▪ Content, completeness and thoroughness of responses to application questions
▪ Financial need
The number of applicants selected to receive funds will be limited by the amount of monies available provided through sponsorships.
The APDT Foundation Grants, Posters & Scholarship Committee will notify the President of the APDT Foundation Board of Trustees of all scholarship winners. The APDT Foundation will notify the scholarship winners by June 22

Your responses to the following questions will be judged on content, completeness and thoroughness. Each response has a character limit of 1,500 characters (about 250 words). You may use more space than provided but remember the character limit. To facilitate objectivity, please refrain from naming your shelter/rescue, training business, work name, location, or anything else that may identify you.
1. Do you have a financial hardship that would prevent you from paying for the 2023 APDT/CAPDT Annual Conference? If so, please explain the hardship and tell us why you would like to receive this scholarship.
2. How will participating in the APDT/CAPDT annual conference support you in reaching your educational/career goals? Include how you would share and/or implement the additional resources you obtain from attending our annual conference to enhance the current positive reinforcement techniques utilized in those rescue/shelter dogs you train. We are also interested in knowing which sessions you are most excited about attending and how they will help you (please list 3 in your answer).
3. Explain in detail how you impact your community through your business, community outreach programs, training classes, rescue/shelter opportunities, projects with schools, working with/at a veterinary hospital, volunteering, etc.
